Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon w/ Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot
VINOUS 93 POINTS - "The 2020 Sor Ugo is packed with blackberry, cloves, leather, menthol, licorice and chocolate. Rich and resonant in the glass, with tons of energy, Sor Ugo has plenty to offer. The substantial, expansive finish is especially of note. I would prefer to drink this over the next decade or so." - Antonio Galloni
When the wine called "Sassicaia" was released in 1968, the phenomenon of the super-Tuscan was born. Sharing a rarefied position in Bolgheri, the Pellegrini family of the Aia Vecchia estate have been grape growers in the area for several generations.
Winemaker Notes - "In the glass, the wine shows colors of red garnet accompanied by a bouquet of cherries, menthol and a hint of rosemary. On the palate, the wine is round and rich without being overpowering. It is spicy on the mid-palate and lively on the back-end, with flavors of black current, licorice and coffee, followed by a long-lasting finish that is slightly minty and boasts a juicy mouth-watering sensation... An ideal wine for red meat, game-based dishes and hard cheeses." Fermented and aged in a ix of new and used barriques (225L French oak barrels).
