"100% sagrantino grapes. It pours a deep ruby red. Its powerful aroma of wild cherries, blackberries and plums develops notes of graphite, liquorice, juniper berries and aromatic herbs. This wine to lay down is aged in casks for at least 2 years and in glass for 2 more, improving over time for at least 10 years. " - CANTINE ADANTI

Domenico Adanti bought the original part of his estate in 1972, in the heart of Umbria's premier wine region of Montefalco. Here, Sagrantino is the star native grape! It tends to have an imposing tannic structure, but the estate makes theirs to be more elegant and complete before selling it. That includes an extended cellaring period, allowing us to offer this 2015 vintage... and for a very reasonable price! You'll find the notes of evolution, from caramelized tones of fruit to tobacco, leather, musk, and forest floor. Let this open up a bit in the glass (~15 minutes) and enjoy it either with well-aged cheeses, nuts and dried fruits, or dishes with game meats, lamb roast, and beef stews.

"The 2015 Montefalco Sagrantino Arquata comes to life in the glass with a sense-permeating wave of autumnal spice, dried black cherries and dark chocolate. Elegant, with a pretty inner sweetness, this takes form with a tart berries and mineral blend, brisk acidity nicely managing all. The 2015 finishes with lingering licorice tinges, gripping tannins and long, yet ultimately quite fresh." - Eric Guido, VINOUS MEDIA
