This dry, clean as a whistle, zippy wine is easy-drinking, with notes of nectarine skin, citrus and quince, and a hint of cucumber. It has a light but lively body with good mineral structure. A distinctive wine for a meager price. We find this so charming and lovely.
Elbling, is an ancient variety that has been cultivated in the Mosel Valley since the Roman times. At one time it was the only variety planted in Luxembourg, and dominated German vineyards during medieval times. Today though it is a rarer find, and when it is, it is typically used in making Sekt. Elbling has high acidity and low alcohol.
