Tommasi has been first and foremost an Amarone estate since their inaugural commercial vintage in 1959. Amarone is the iconic wine from Northern Italy's classic Valpolicella region, the stretch of Alpine foothills between Lake Garda and Verona. Made by air-drying native grape varieties (Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella & Oseletafor Tommasi's wine) for around 3 months, these are among the most concentrated and full-bodied wines in Italy. Tommasi ages their bottling for around 3 long years in traditional, large casks made from Slavonian oak. That enhances the rich woodsy, cocoa and spice notes that accompany the delicious herb-tinged, ripe red fruit cordial character of Valpolicellas. While the typical Amarone is best enjoyed as a 'meditation wine' after dinner, Tommasi's is also a fantastic food partner for rich, flavorful dishes like winter stews, beef roasts and aged cheeses. Grab a glass and a warm fire!

VINOUS 94 POINTS - "The 2020 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico wafts up with a rich blend of cherry sauce and dusty sage, elevated by nuances of cocoa and split pine. It is soothingly round yet lifted in feel, with crisp red berry fruits offset by a bitter tinge of dark chocolate. The finish is structured and long yet fresh, leaving a tart wild berry saturation that adds a chewy sensation as a resonance of clove fades slowly." - Eric Guido
