The Landing winery was featured in a 2025 Decanter Magazine article for "One to Watch." We've been happy to sell their wines for a number of vintages now, and the quality hasn't let up. Their home in the Northlands area of New Zealand's North Island is a unique place to make wine, with a tiny fraction of New Zealand's commercial winemaking happening here.
This Syrah shows off the salty maritime climate in the Bay of Islands region, as well as the winemaking that favors aromatic freshness and mouthwatering acidity rather than ultra-ripeness. After unwinding in the glass, it pours forth smoky, spicy and floral-tinged blackberries and blueberries. New Zealand's fruit purity is on display, with a medium-bodied saturation on the palate, but not without savory, olive hints that Syrah is famous for in France's northern Rhone Valley. It's a fantastic choice for spiced and herbed grilled meats, especially lamb!
