Savory and woodsy-balsam, this is a taste of Galicia! Telmo Rodriguez and Pablo Eguzkiza helped renovate old vineyards in the mountainous Valdeorras region of Galicia. With dramatic valleys and rocky soils, the site where their organically farmed vines grow has a cooler, wetter climate than the bulk of Spain. Their wines are honestly made, with plenty of understated, old-world charm married with exceptional winemaking.

JAMES SUCKLING 94 POINTS - "A juicy and savory red with plum, berry and cherry aromas and flavors. Some earth undertones. Medium body. Medium round tannins. Shows some flint and slate character..." - James Suckling, Senior Editor

WINERY NOTES - "Valbuxán is an authentic premier cru village wine of various native varieties and different ages, all growing at different altitudes and exposures in the surrounding O Bolo county, particularly in the communities of As Ermitas, Santa Cruz, and Valbuxán. Among the native grape varieties used to make Valbuxán are mencía, brancellao, sousón, garnacha tintorera, and merenzao. Viticulture is organic, the grapes are hand-harvested, and wines are made with low intervention. Valbuxán is a limited-production wine.

"... fermentation begins spontaneously with native yeasts in large used French foudres. The wine is aged for 12 months in used 1,500L and 225L French barrels before being bottled unfiltered."
