The Sylvain Pataille Marsannay Blanc is an expressive and thoroughly satisfying wine that helps to highlight why the combination of Marsannay and Pataille is so revered. A range of very old (1949) and new vines make up the blend from five parcels dotted around Marsannay. New and old barrels give the wine a subtle oaky and toasty edge, while the full malo results in creaminess and textural appeal. Starting relatively shyly, some time to breathe opens up the wine to reveal stone fruits, citrus, apple, smoke and blossom, with minerality and acidity making it zippy and youthful. A long, dry and savoury finish caps off a wonderful drinking experience.
