JEB DUNNUCK 96 POINTS - "Now ten years after the vintage, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Astral is still youthful and drinking beautifully. Based on 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Malbec that spent 22 months in 35% new oak, its dense ruby/plum hue is followed by a Lynch Bages-like nose of smoky black fruits, lead pencil shavings, chocolate, tobacco, and leather. This carries to a full-bodied Cabernet with a round, layered mouthfeel, still present, ripe tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. This powerful, concentrated effort is just now at the early stages of its prime drinking window, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it evolve gracefully for another two decades or more. Don't think Santa Barbara County Bordeaux blends can age (or be brilliant?), try this in a blind tasting."
