90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo & Colorino
2021 was an exceptional vintage for Chianti Classico, and Rodano's offers one of the best values in the world of wine. Coming from warm slopes of the Castellina district, this is a warmly-toned, fuller-bodied Chianti with plenty of Sangiovese energy within. You might find aromas and flavors of dark-red fruits (black cherry, plum), spices, and dried herbs, along with accents of purple flower (violet, lavender), roasted earth and coffee. This is serious enough to age well, developing more leather and tobacco over the years, but friendly enough to enjoy now with a short time in the glass and meaty tomato sauces or braised meats.
Rodano is located in the heart of Chianti Classico in the famed region of Castellina with the original farm dating back to the Middle Ages. Rodano's pristine, organic vineyards are in the perfect location to create classic, soulful Chianti Classico. The estate has been in the Pozzesi family since the 1950's with Vittorio Pozzesi managing the winery. The Pozzesi family believes in their native Sangiovese; as Vittorio says, "The whole world can make Cabernet or Merlot, but only we can make Sangiovese. Why change it?"
