This delicious Barbera comes from La Morra in the Barolo region, known for its fragrant, vibrant and elegant style of reds. The aromas are saturated with a vinous, violet-tinged and darkly red-fruited character (like Amarena cherry and plum). The mouthfeel shows the upfront richness of the variety, but gives way to a vibrantly juicy character, with aromatic hints of cooling herb, anise, clove and iron. It finishes with a light, mouthwatering salinity and lightly chewy, soft-grained tannins, with a hint of bitter almond. This is a pizza wine par excellence, but it's great for a variety of dishes like stuffed pastas, marinated pork roasts, or simply some semi-soft cheeses and salumi with fennel.
