Pure Kentucky XO is produced by Kentucky bourbon distillers. The company was formerly the Willett Distilling Company. Willet distilling started in 1936 and did not become Kentucky Bourbon Distillers until July 1, 1984, when Even G. Kulsveen purchased the property. Even Kulsveen to this day operates the facility. The XO stands for extra old and the bourbon is 11 years old. This small batch whiskey is not to be taken lightly. The nose is pronounced with huge sourmash and caramelized sugar tones. On the palate this whiskey seems hot until a few drops of water are added. Then tones emerge of sweet rye, clove, leather and just a hint of fennel. The finish is laced with toasted oak and dried fruits that are strong and slowly mellow. All this whiskey
