Even better, we are able to offer this wine at more than 40% off the regular price making this the lowest price in the country-by far!
Peter Lehmann is a legend in Australian winemaking, following in the footsteps of his family who have been growing grapes and making wine for generations. The fruit is sourced from low yielding, high quality Barossa vineyards in the premium Western and Northern sub-regions of Barossa Valley. The wine is matured in French oak to integrate perfectly with the bold fruit flavors, creating an approachable and supple wine. This is a wine with great pedigree from growers committed to the highest standards.
The name of the Futures Shiraz comes from a challenging time in the late 70s, when a wine company reneged on contracts with dozens of grape growers from the Barossa Valley. Peter Lehmann had worked with many of these growers and did not want to see them fail. Peter asked friends and family to pay up front for wine that could not be picked up for two years. He succeeded and secured enough funds to pay the local growers and this Shiraz became known as "Futures." Peter earned the loyalty of these farmers and their heirs and the legacy continues today with this wine.
Enjoy this rich, juicy and concentrated Barossa Valley Shiraz at a fantastic price while we have it. When it’s gone, it’s gone!
Deep ruby with purple highlights and slow moving tears. On the nose, aromas of violet, blackberry, plum, dark chocolate and allspice. On the palate, this wine is dry and full-bodied with smooth, velvety tannins. The wine displays nice concentration and juiciness, showing dark fruit flavors including blackberry, black raspberry, ripe blue plum, vanilla and dark chocolate. The finish is long and satisfying.
WINE SPECTATOR 90 POINTS - "Smooth and refined, with cinnamon and clove accents to the blackberry and tobacco flavors, lingering on the expressive finish. Drink now through 2018."
JAMES HALLADAY 90 POINTS - "Over the decades, both Lehmann and Tyrrell's hit upon a futures programme, providing them with the same accelerated cash flow than top-end Bordeaux producers derive from their en primeur offers up to two years before their release. This medium- to full-bodied wine has plenty of black fruits, and even more liberal oak."
