Pais, known as the Mission grape in North America, is a historically important variety that came with the Spanish centuries ago. Pedro Parra sources this from non-irrigated vineyards of granite sands and ancient volcanic silts in Chile's cool-climate Itata region. His old-school winemaking involves some whole grape clusters, fermentation with native yeast, and aged in a combination of concrete and large oak casks for a year. A special little wine at a great price!
