The Emilio Rojo Blanco is arguably one of the best white wines produced in Spain and we can usually only get our hands on 1 case every year. Only one wine is produced from the tiny estate and a very small quantity comes into the U.S. A blend of Treixadura, Loureiro, Albariño, Lado, and Torrontes, it's spicy and complex with amazing balance and weight. Electric flavors of citrus, pear, and melon, tossed with wild fresh herbs, fennel, and an underlying salty minerality. Fantastic clarity and purity of flavors. A real show stopper, to say the least. WINE ADVOCATE 96 POINTS - "The serious and austere 2021 Emilio Rojo comes from the historical vineyard always worked by Emilio Rojo, now in the process to be certified organic. In 2021, because of the challenges of the year, they harvested over four different periods of time—September 6, 12, 18 and 22. It fermented in three stainless steel tanks and one concrete egg, where the wines matured. It's clearly a cooler, more Atlantic vintage, a sharper and characterful wine with some savory aromas, hints of nettle and other wild herbs, moss and river stones. It has a moderate 12% alcohol, a pH of 3.41 and 5.88 grams of acidity and comes through as sharp and balanced. It was a very small crop that delivered 2,365 bottles and 160 magnums. It was bottled in July 2022. It should be released at the end of 2024. An age-worthy vintage."
