Miyagikyo Single Malt Whisky Finished in Apple Brandy Barrels
This limited edition of the Miyagikyo single malt has been finished in Nikka's apple brandy barrels and bottled in 2020 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Masataka and Rita's marriage in 1920. At the foundation in 1934, apple products helped Nikka to keep the business sustainable while the first whiskies were maturing, just like Rita supported Masataka's dream.
Tasting Notes,
Nose: With a delicate aroma of apples, Sherry and spiciness like cinnamon, Very much on the floral side, orchard fruit notes, a hint of pepper, light honeysuckle
Palate: ripe apples, complemented by hints of vanilla and oak from the whisky's time spent maturing in barrels. The nose delights with an enticing aroma of orchard fruits, caramel, and a subtle hint of spice, inviting you to delve deeper into its complex layers of flavor.
Finish: Very finely salty, the beginning of the finish takes us irremediably towards herbaceous and malty regions whose tannins delicately shrink the taste buds. (rosemary, mint, lime blossom) add a floral dimension. Oak, cyprus, pine.
