Kweichou Moutai Distillery Group is a Chinese company named for the northern Kweichou province in which it resides. It is dedicated to the production of their particular baijiu (sorghum spirit) brand, which they regard (along with scotch and cognac) as one of the three most famous liquors in the world. The modern company was formed in 1997, though it traces a lineage back through 3 Chinese dynasties to the Han Dynasty. Moutai Premium baijiu is the high-proof expression fo the classic Chinese spirit. It is made traditionally from sorghum and blended with Chishui River water.
