ANTONIO GALLONI 96 POINTS - "The 2014 Billet Doux, Morlet's sweet wine, is a fitting conclusion to this tasting of new releases. It offers up a mesmerizing array of candied orange peel, ginger, wild flowers, pineapple and crème brûlée. There's plenty of richness and oiliness, but no excess weight."
ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 95 POINTS - "The 2014 Billet Doux contains a little Muscat this year, but unlike the other varieties, the Muscat is not botrytized. The final blend is 60% Semillon, 34% Sauvignon Blanc and 6% Muscat. Also worth mentioning is that the pH is notably higher (acidity therefore lower) in the fruit coming from this vineyard—usually around 3.8/3.9. All told, this is a big, buxom, hedonic sweet wine, possessing 16.5% alcohol, although it is not overly sweet at 95 grams per liter of residual sugar. Pale lemon-gold colored, the nose gives up notes of honey-drizzled peaches, preserved oranges, lemon marmalade and candied ginger with hints of honeycomb, spice cake and musk perfume. Rich, sweet and unctuous, the palate is decadently spicy, with soft acidity, finishing long and perfumed. 225 cases were made."
