This is a sleek, modern style of Aglianico that also serves as an easy introduction to the variety. It comes from the Sannio area in Campania, distinct from the Irpinia area (home to Taurasi) and Monte Vulture in Basilicata (home to Aglianico di Vulture). Core is Neapolitan for 'heart,' but also happens to have relevance in English as Montevetrano considers the native Aglianico to be at the core/heart of their tradition.
