MOSEL FINE WINES - 94 POINTS The 2025 Elisenberger Riesling Kabinett, as it is referred to on the consumer label, was made from the area around the sundial and in the upper part of the vineyard harvested at 80° Oechsle and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (53 g/l). It initially proves slightly reductive with its undercooled and minty wild herbs and wet slate, and develops a very complex nose of spices, raspberry, tangerine, and herbal tea. The wine is beautifully airy and elegant on the finely juicy palate. The finish is all about freshness and still proves tight and herbal at this early stage yet already shows great length and purity. This is a splendid, refined, and playful Kabinett.

ANTONIO GALLONI - VINOUS - 93 POINTS The 2025 Riesling Veldenzer Elisenberger Kabinett is a Richter monopole that mixes alluvial deposits, slate and quartzite. Smokiness combines with crushed herb lift that has something of deadnettle. The palate is juicy and energetic and mixes its profound stony flavor with that deadnettle vibe and juicy, ripe white peach. Lemon frames it all and makes for a lively, joyful wine. (Off-dry)

STUART PIGOTT - 93 POINTS (8.0% ABV) With its intense wild berry - also blackberry - aromas this distinctive expression of Mosel is dangerously mouthwatering. Super-refreshing finish although the acidity is anything but sharp. From a little-known site with quarzitic soil. (SP)

*** STORE NOTES:
Classic producer Maximum Ferdinand Richter, have owned their vineyards for more than 300 years. Ownership of the Veldenzer Elisenberg vineyard began in 1813 when Richter ancestor Franz Ludwig Niessen learned of Napoleon Bonaparte's plan to demolish the cherished Veldenz vineyard. Niessen arranged a personal payment to the General to stop the destruction. The whole slope of Veldenzer Elisenberg was given to him by the municipality as a token of appreciation, and has stayed in the family ever since. The quartz soils of the Veldenz produce Rieslings that exhibit flavors of red currant, raspberry, and blueberry… an unusual quality to find in Riesling, but also a trait that makes this wine oh-so-charming, memorable and utterly delicious.
