The 2019 Blackboard Red Wine is a wine that is produced and sold to help benefit Education in the State of Washington. A portion of the proceeds from each bottle will benefit the Ackerley Foundation. This foundation supports the University of Washington, College of Education which provides resources to Washington schools to improve student learning and train new K-12 teachers.
Aged in 25% new French oak, this wine is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon and 49% Merlot. Beautiful notes of currants, spice, raspberry jam, strawberry, and pureed plum. Hints of vanilla bean, cocoa powder, and macerated berries carry the palate. A darker fruit wine with soft tannins and surprising complexity. A great window into a warm vintage in Washington State.
