Yakushima, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its humid climate and pure mountain water, shapes the whisky’s maturation. The island’s rainfall and temperature swings accelerate aging, imparting deep complexity and vibrant character. MARS The Y.A. is a Japanese whisky crafted by aging malt whiskies from Komagatake and Tsunuki at the Mars Yakushima Aging Cellar, located on this lush island. The #04 edition is primarily made from malt whiskies aged in bourbon barrels. It presents layered aromas of tropical yellow fruits, earthy peat smoke, and a subtle hint reminiscent of the moss-covered forests of Yakushima. The result is a rich and deep whisky, with a long, lingering finish. Nose : Aromas reminiscent of tanned leather, moss, and soft white smoke from peat are harmonized with glossy, ripe yellow fruit scents of banana and tankan, a hybrid citrus between a mandarin and a sweet orange. Palate : A smoky yet fruity palate, where soft smoke intertwines with honeyed fruit, subtle salinity and elegant oak. A taste with brilliance and firmness. Overall : Long and warming, with sweet smoke and rich umami lingering gracefully.
