The Marcelo Pelleriti Signature Cabernet Franc stands out for its well-made, hedonistic drinkability for less than $20! Medium-full in body, with a satisfyingly velvet, vinous texture coming from a judicious amount of extraction from the perfectly-ripened skins and creaminess from oak aging. Thanks to the mountain climate of the Uco Valley in Mendoza, fruit can ripen with fully-developed flavors and still maintain a freshness of acidity. There is an appetizing umami quality (some might find a "saline minerality") that blends in nicely with the plush dark fruits, floral hints, and soft vanilla from the oak, and which keeps you coming back for more! While this is a wine you can have on its own, it will be a great partner with mixed grill dinners.
JAMES SUCKLING 94 POINTS - "This is very typical for cabernet franc with blackberries, violets and lavender. It’s medium-bodied with fine, creamy tannins and a beautiful finish. Just a hint of chocolate. Gorgeous to drink now, but will improve with age."
The quality doesn't come out of the blue: Marcelo has made wine for decades, including at the Monteviejo winery in Argentina (one of the contributors to the well-known Clos de los Siete wine) as well as right-bank Bordeaux standouts Chateau La Violette and Chateau Le Gay (for which he has received 99-100 points from The Wine Advocate).
