100% Aglianico
This is the value line from the iconic Cantine del Notaio winery in Italy's Basilicata region. Made from Aglianico vines in the volcanic Vulture area, it's medium-full in body and driven by zippy dark fruits accompanied by a darkly earthy, savory streak and spice. Its typically rustic tannins are tamed by a year of aging in seasoned French oak barrels, making it ideal for more protein rich dishes, especially roasted red meats!
"The 2023 Rosso del Vulcano opens in the glass with savory herbs, tobacco and crushed blackberries. Violet-laced red and black fruits give way to tactile minerals toward the close. Juicy in the mouth, the 2023 lingers long with cheek-puckering tension and a rose-tinged finale." - Eric Guido, VINOUS MEDIA
“This line of wines offers tremendous value and is worth seeking out if you are curious about the Vulture but don’t want to break the bank.” — Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
Aged 1 year in seasoned small French oak barrels.
