LONGROW 10YR 1995 TOKAJI FINISH 55.6% 700ML CAMPBELTOWN SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY

This Longrow has been finished for two years in an Ex-Tokaji Hungarian sweet Wine casks after its initial 8 years in refill American oak. A heavily peated and double matured limited release from the Springbank distillery. Nose: Stewed apple, crystalised ginger, dark honey, pancakes in brown butter, orange liqueur and old aromatic tea chest wood. Palate: Stewed apple tea, quite a dry and tannic body with sooty and peppery smoke, stewed apples and pears and anise spice. Finish: Greengage jam, toffee apple, peppery anise and sooty smoke, ripe pears and fruity tea with lemon and honey. For a sweet wine cask finished malt this is actually quite dry and needs water to bring out its sweeter notes.Interesting none the less from this cult distillery and will be somewhat of a marmite, love it or loathe it malt.
