This is a celebration of the start of Todd Leopold’s 25th year in the fermentation arts, and Todd and his distilling team drew fully on these many years of experience to create this effervescent Gin.

We looked to the orange orchards of the rolling hills of Santa Catarina, Brazil, which has been the home of Green and Red Mandarin Oranges for centuries and found the flavors we were seeking.

When this Orange is harvested in September, the Mandarin Orange is green in color, yielding a savory and floral peel that is used in cuisines around the world.  And yet when it is harvested in late December, it yields a reddish fruit that has a floral and intense citrus aroma that is now similar to its cousin, the Tangerine.  

Leopold Bros. distills Santa Catarina’s Green Mandarin Orange and Red Mandarin Orange separately, and then blends the two distillates together in the final gin.  This allows the two contrasting flavors to work in concert, marrying citrus and floral notes to a piquant finish.
