Although situated in the generally cool northern sector of the Côte de Blancs, the microclimate of the Chouilly Grand Cru is warmed by its proximity to the Marne River which provides its Chardonnays with a glossy texture without the sacrifice of elegance and finesses. This priced right Legras & Haas Blanc de Blancs really dazzled us with its textbook exposition of Chouilly's unique terroir.
VINOUS WINE MEDIA 91 POINTS - "The NV Brut Les Visions Blanc de Blancs Chouilly Grand Cru, chiefly based on the 2020 vintage, opens with a lovely veil of smoky reduction that soon verges into chalky creaminess, referencing both polenta and lemon balm. The palate puts lemon and lemon balm to the fore against a smooth backdrop of chalky creaminess, enlivened by frothy energetic mousse that swirls all this sunny energy and brightness. It finishes on a beautifully salty note. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: June 2023. - Anne Krebiehl MW
WINE ENTHUSIAST 91 POINTS - "With its vines in Chouilly, the first village in the Côte des Blancs, this is a textured, mineral-driven Champagne. Its grapefruit aroma and fresh lemon and kiwi flavors give a crisp character to the wine. The bottling will be even better from 2025."
WINERY NOTES - Crafting Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Chouilly wines of the highest quality is more than our mission—it’s our heart and soul. Legras & Haas Blanc de Blancs Brut has always been quintessentially Chouilly, reflecting the essence of this village’s terroirs (33 out of 47, to be precise). Each year, it captures the beauty of Chouilly as we envision it... a shared vision, now known as Les Visions. It is the cornerstone of Legras & Haas, the focal point of our craft. By blending the vast majority of Chouilly’s subterroirs, we offer a Grand Cru wine that delivers a definitive expression of Chouilly. It presents a fresh attack and finish, with an uncommon weight, width, and generosity in the mid-palate—qualities that set it apart from other villages of the Côte de Blancs.
