We are excited to offer the fantastic, high scoring Moulin a Vent from Yohan Lardy at an incredible price! This refreshing medium-bodied, dry red wine immediately caught our attention when we tasted it and were blown away by the purity, intensity and freshness of the fruit.

The wines made by this domaine are deliciously drinkable and serious wines which show what Beaujolais is capable of. The old vines (vieilles vignes) planted in 1903 impart a concentrated purity that is memorable. James Suckling gave this Cru Beaujolais 98 Points stating, "It's hard to wrap your head around this extraordinary Moulin-a-Vent." We couldn't agree more!

This is a fantastic example of what Beaujolais is capable of. The venerable cru of Moulin a Vent produces wines of deep fruit with some structure yet exhibit finesse at the same time. This wine is ready to go, but can also be enjoyed with some age if that is your desire. With time, these wines take on more complexity and begin to resemble fine red Burgundy.

This is a perfect wine to enjoy on a warm spring or summer day or evening. The aromas burst from the glass with notes of wild berries, violets, spice and ripe cherry fruit.

The ongoing renaissance of Beaujolais has been a joy to behold. As more and more growers have adopted better farming practices, more thoughtful approaches to vinification and an increased emphasis on site-specific bottlings, the immense potential of these bucolic hillsides has been unlocked to an unprecedented extent.

One of the leaders of this movement is Yohan Lardy. Spending time in wine regions around the world allowed him to learn from others. Upon returning home and returning to his roots, he applied his "worldly" knowledge to his home in Beaujolais.

Yohan is fortunate to have great old plots planted at the beginning of the 20th century. The Gamay roots draw from a shallow, lean soil composed of friable pink granite. All grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in whole bunches with indigenous yeasts, without any additives. In search of finesse and balance, they are aged in used oak barrels to obtain the best possible balance between fruit and tannins.

Yohan's goal from the outset has been to produce wines of minimal intervention that express site character with maximal clarity. Tasting through Lardy's line-up, we found the wines to be consistent, expressive and persistent.

We are happy to offer this eminently drinkable, extraordinary and refreshing Beaujolais at the best price in the country!

JAMES SUCKLING 98 POINTS - "It’s hard to wrap your head around this extraordinary Moulin-a-Vent, but give it time, and it will wrap itself around—and into—your head. The ripe forest-berry aromas have incredible depth, giving way to a mouth-filling, full-bodied palate that’s highly structured. Then comes a gigantic wave of mineral freshness, almost perfectly underlined by fine tannins. Lastly, it glides off into the distance, pulling you with it. From organically cultivated vines planted in 1903. Drink or hold."
