Laphroaig, always the historians, were trying to envision Whisky 200 years ago and how it was different. Realizingan aspect that had been overlooked--Quarter Cask takes its inspiration from the small casks used to transportacross valleys by mule and the dramatic influence these ?smaller? barrels convey to the Whisky-- What a great idea!The nose is full, big, intense smoked meats, olives- peppers, waves crashing on the rock and a misty breeze witha surprising bit of quince or persimmon. On the palate the aromas come through, but with more peat, spice, andherbs (Rosemary, Basil). The mouth-feel is oily and creamy with excellent persistence to the finish which is longand brighter than the whole experience. This is a treat, a treasure, a wonderful joy to drink. If you like ?Peatiness? atall you should give this a try... it will earn its place at your bar!
