La Rioja Alta's 'Vina Alberdi' Reserva already flies out of the store for the seductive Spanish character it delivers at an easy-to-swallow price! This beloved Tempranillo-driven bottling charms with its blend of savory and fruity, its comforting balsam core, and lightly roasted accents like coffee or cocoa beans. Well, fans have something new to look forward to: the 2021 Vina Alberdi is here and it takes things to the next level, carrying the distinction of 'Seleccion Especial.' This indicates the higher quality harvest that went into this edition… the only other release of Alberdi that had this distinction was 20 vintages ago!

La Rioja Alta is a historic winery for the region, having bottled their own wine since 1890, but its popularity today is greater than ever thanks to a well-honed lineup that offers great value across the board! The Vina Alberdi Reserva leads the way thanks to its down-to-earth price tag for a taste of the winery's easy-to-love house style: a clean and polished take on Rioja's tradition of long aging in American oak barrels, which adds creaminess, and tasty vanilla and coconut accents.

Thanks to a fantastic 2021 growing season, you can expect this special edition to have more aromatic intensity and length, and a freshness that pierces through the years in oak and bottle that it's seen. It's a perfect wine to have on hand, so stock up while it's here!

WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS - "The 2021 Viña Alberdi Selección Especial is only the second vintage to receive the mention "Selección Especial"—the first was the 2001— pointing at a very special vintage for this wine. It was produced with Tempranillo from Mayorita, Las Monjas, El Palo and El Bardal in the village of Rodezno and Alto del Rey in Labastida. The lightly destemmed and crushed grapes fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in American oak barrels for two years... It's very classical and very clean, showing incipient complexity and just a hint of evolution and tertiary notes. It has terrific balance and freshness and pungent, focused and precise flavors. Without a doubt, this is the finest Alberdi I can remember."
