It's appropriate that Argentinian Bonarda (aka Charbono in California) originated in France's mountainous Savoie region: the vines really shine with the cooler summer nights of high altitudes. Bonarda was brought over and spread throughout Mendoza in the late 1800s and early 1900s by Italian immigrants, like the grandparents of La Posta's winemaker, Luis Reginato, and the great-grandfather of vineyard owner Estela Armando. Her family planted the vines that are sourced for La Posta's "Armando" Bonarda in 1963, exactly the kind of mature, family-owned vineyard that inspired La Posta's owners to begin their project 25 years ago!
VINOUS 91 POINTS - "The 2022 Bonarda La Posta Armando is sourced from an old pergola in Guaymallen, Mendoza. Fifty percent was aged for ten months in used French oak barrels, resulting in a deep purple color. The nose features raspberry and cherry notes along with a subtle oak layer. Dry, plush and supple, the juicy palate focuses on the fruit notes. This is a tasty, easygoing Bonarda from a cold vintage." - Joaquin Hidalgo
