WINE ADVOCATE - 93 POINTS The NV Karthauserhof Brut (1|24) is based on the 2020 harvest and was aged sur lattes for three years. Bottled in May 2021 and disgorged in August 2024 (with one gram per liter of dosage), this Riesling cuvée includes 10% to 15% Pinot Blanc. The wine offers a super fine and brioche-scented bouquet of ripe white fruits, lemon notes and yeasty flavors. The medium-bodied wine is filigreed, fresh and bright on the palate, yet it is also persistently saline and reveals a serious, well-structured finish and lemon zest on the aftertaste. 12% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in January 2026.
ANTONIO GALLONI VINOUS MEDIA 93 POINTS - "The NV Brut is the inaugural Sekt from this ancient estate. It is a blend of 90% Riesling and 10% Pinot Blanc, picked on the Karthauserhofberg itself as well as in the villages of Mertesdorf and Waldrach. The base wines were partially fermented in wood and stainless steel and the wine spent 3.5 years on lees. A lovely sense of peach and apricot on the nose is bedded on moist Genoese sponge. A moment later, citrus peel, lime and tangerine cut in. Fine mousse is immensely sprightly; it will be calmer with just a few more months of post-disgorgement age. The body is slender, taut but also tender, again with that charming peach and sponge cake note and real verve. A taut, bright Sekt with a superbly clean finish and much class. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged: August 2024."
