This double-barreled rye whiskey travels the world on ships at sea, blending the bold flavor of Rye with the rich caramelization that comes from the unique sea aging process. It’s the movement on the voyage that causes the rye to interact even more with the wood than if in a traditional rickhouse. Constant movement brings more contact, interaction and influence from the wood of the barrel to the distillate-- this means more flavor! And the saltine marine influence is noted, as well! A number of distlleries here and abroad have experimented with the effects of tide and ocean travel on spirits and we are all for it.
Notes: Scents of toasted marshmallow, maple syrup, hint of spice on the nose. The mouth sees lovely toffee and vanilla flavors with a hint of tobacco as the rye asserts itself. The finish brings baking spices, cinnamon and sea salt.
