Few wines capture the essence of Beaujolais as vividly as Jean-Marc Burgaud's Morgon Côte du Py and the new release from the 2023 vintage is a stunner! Awarded an extraordinary 99 points for James Suckling by Stuart Pigott, this benchmark Cru Beaujolais rivals wines many times its price.

The review from JamesSuckling.com notes, "The haunting bouquet of violets" and "the combination of great concentration and finesse is truly breathtaking" This is simply a phenomenal Morgon with incredible depth and precision. As mentioned, the floral bouquet is expressive and followed by a mélange of fresh red berries. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannins, showcasing the purity and balance Beaujolais is capable of.

Jean-Marc Burgaud, often hailed as one of Beaujolais' most talented vignerons, established his domaine in 1989. Based in Morgon, he and his wife Christine farm with a deep respect for tradition, working 19 hectares of vines with minimal intervention and sustainable practices with organic principles.

The grapes are sourced from 50-year-old Gamay vines from Côte du Py - Morgon's most famous vineyard on a hill of decomposed schist that yields profound minerality.

The winemaking includes 100% whole-cluster fermentation in concrete, followed by aging in traditional oak foudres to preserve purity and terroir expression.

This is a shining example of what a high-quality Beaujolais should be. Eminently drinkable now, this is capable of aging and exhibits the increasing complexity of fine Burgundy with additional time in the bottle.

At just $26.98 per bottle, this 99-point Morgon delivers world-class pedigree and cellar-worthy depth at a fraction of the price of Burgundy's top wines.

Enjoy Beaujolais greatness at a remarkable price.

JAMES SUCKLING 99 POINTS - "The haunting bouquet of violets, forest floor, red beets and berries holds you in its gentle grip so that you have to force yourself to take a sip. But when you do, the combination of great concentration and finesse is truly breathtakingthe almost endless finish. Fermented and matured in concrete tanks. Drink or hold.”
