Annual, limited release blended Japanese whisky from Mars Shinshu in Nagano, Japan Iwai Tradition, from Mars Shinshu’s core range, is finished in ex-Pinot Noir and Cabernet casks from Mars Winery in Yamanashi Distilled from 70% malted barley and 30% corn Iwai Tradition is non-age statement; aged primarily in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks (other cask types including ex-wine, port, & new oak may vary batch to batch) The nose shows aromas of toasted oats, strawberries, and sweet cream which transition to a palate of pomegranate molasses, rosemary, and pink peppercorn with a lingering hint of cinnamon Non-chill filtered; 40% ABV For this limited-edition release, Mars finishes its premier blended whisky, Iwai Tradition, in ex-Pinot Noir and Cabernet casks from its own winery in Yamanashi. This expression retains the peppered backbone of the original Iwai Tradition while replacing its lightly floral notes with delicate baking spice.
