A revival of the historic Italian rosolio category — known as the "Aperitivo di Corte" served in the courts of the House of Savoy in the 1800s — created by Giuseppe Gallo and launched in September 2016, produced at Torino Distillati, the family-owned distillery in Moncalieri near Turin established in 1906. Made from bergamot I.G.P. fruit harvested from the UNESCO-protected coast of Calabria in the early morning, when the crop is heavy with dew — the origin of the name rosolio, from the Latin ros olis, "morning dew" — alongside delicate floral components, on a neutral spirit base sweetened with beet sugar.
