Ichiro’s Double Distilleries 2021 Chichibu x Komagatake is a unique Japanese blended malt, the result of an unprecedented collaboration between the Chichibu and Mars Shinshu distilleries. In 2015, the two distilleries exchanged barrels and aged them in their respective cellars. This project has led to two 100% Japanese blended malts presented jointly by Kasuto Hombo and Ichiro Akuto. Ichiro’s Double Distilleries 2021 Chichibu x Komagatake is a fruity, generous and complex blended malt. It was bottled in 2021 at 53.5% ABV. The Chichibu distillery was founded in 2007 by Ichiro Akuto, and started production the year after. Being the first new Japanese distillery since 1973, Chichibu started a new chapter in Japan’s whisky history. The Mars Shinshu Distillery was established in 1985, mothballed in 1992 and resumed production again in 2011. The distillery is located at the foot of the Komagatake mountain, after which its single malts are named. Only 10200 bottles of Ichiro’s Double Distilleries 2021 Chichibu x Komagatake have been released.
