High West A Midwinter’s Night’s Dram Act 14 begins with Rendezvous Rye, a blend of straight rye whiskeys aged between four and ten years. The blend combines MGP rye made from 95% rye and 5% malted barley with High West pot-still rye made from 80% rye and 20% malted rye.
Created to commemorate High West Distillery’s 20th anniversary, Act 14 expands the series’ traditional Ruby and Tawny Port finishing with Amontillado, Oloroso, and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. Bottled without chill filtration at 49.3% ABV / 98.6 proof, the resulting whiskey layers rye spice with dark fruit, nuts, preserves, and warming dessert spices.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Wild strawberries, blackberry-lemon preserves, singed apple, grapefruit blossom, honeycomb, sandalwood, autumn leaves, and warm figs carried in leather.
Palate: Blood orange, cherry fruit leather, cinnamon-dusted plum crumble, quince jam, apricot scone, cold-brew coffee, dried mint, toasted hazelnuts, and hickory wood.
Finish: Rich and vibrant with lingering berry preserves, pastry, warming rye spice, and a jam thumbprint cookie dipped in spiced chai tea.
