Sauvignon Blanc & Chardonnay w/ 5% Viognier

This delicious 'natural' wine is made by fermentation with the skins of the white grape varieties left on, making it a so-called amber/orange wine (it's called that even if a wine made this way doesn't appear strongly colored). This makes it more intensely flavored and gives a fine grip to the palate like a lightly structure red wine would. Fermentation in large, neutral oak barrels helps to soften the textural edges and allow the flavors to round out as well, which can help tame an orange wine just as it does for a youthful red. Aged for 8 months on the skins in those barrels, then in clay & ceramic amphorae.

WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "The skin-contact white 2022 Humo Blanco Naranjo had a string [sp] extraction and displays a golden color. It was produced with 50/50 Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay fermented in used 600-liter French oak barrels, where it was in contact with the skins for eight months. It's quite tannic and can stand up to more powerful food, finishing dry and chalky. They produce around 10,000 to 12,000 bottles. This was first produced in 2021 and is selling well, so they'll probably increase volumes in the future."

"Appearance: Medium intensity yellow with a coppery rim, it presents a slight cloudiness due to the fact that it is an unfiltered wine with the fine lees included.

Aromas: Fruity notes reminiscent of quince, pear and apricot as well as an intense presence of mandarin and orange zest nuanced with aromas of beeswax and a pleasant floral bouquet.

Palate: Complex on the palate, textured and with structure enhanced by the contribution of the skins, which provide chewy tannins, all supported by good acidity and volume." - WINERY NOTES
