We just received the new release of the very popular 2023 Gonnet Cotes du Rhone Le Reveur. Hi-Time's buyers recently tasted this and were struck by the concentration, purity and depth of this delicious wine. It was unanimously selected as our Wine of the Month for February. We have previously featured Gonnet as our Wine of the Month and this is every bit as delicious!

Wine Spectator gave this wine 90 Points calling it, "an exuberant, full-bodied Côtes du Rhône" which, "offers juicy deliciousness." This is a crowd pleasing, full-bodied wine that completely over-delivers with stunning black and blue fruits underpinned by a freshness that makes it so drinkable. The quality to price ratio is off the charts and this drinks like a wine which costs 2-3 times its $10.95 price tag.

This is truly a bountiful time for wines from the Southern Rhone. With a string of outstanding vintages and fantastic pricing, times have never been better to enjoy these delicious wines. This 80-20 blend of Grenache and Syrah crafted by Guillaume Gonnet is a perfect case in point. The quality of the fruit and the depth of flavor really stood out when we tasted this at the store.

Gonnet's 2023 Cotes du Rhone Le Reveur is an 80-20 blend of Grenache and Syrah sourced a short distance from the banks of the Rhône River. The climate here is Mediterranean with hot, dry summers bringing excellent ripening to the grapes used in this blend.

The Gonnet family has been in the Rhone since at least 1600. Etienne Gonnet and Jeanne Brunier married and created Font de Michelle in 1950. Today the domaine is being managed by the grandchild of Etienne, Guillaume Gonnet. Before joining his family as 3rd generation winemaker, Guillaume travelled the world working in some of the most famous wineries in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Napa Valley, New Zealand and finally in Australia where he met his wife, Kelly.

Guillaume and Kelly have purchased several plots in Chateauneuf du Pape and the surrounding communes. These, along with vines inherited from Guillaume's family are farmed following biodynamic agricultural principles. The beautiful bird on the label embodies their passion for the terroir and their respect for the health of the vineyards. The wines are well-balanced with supple, approachable tannins and very little wood influence.

This crowd-pleasing wine is a remarkable value that should not be missed and is available at the lowest price in the nation!

WINE SPECTATOR 90 POINTS - "This is an exuberant, full-bodied Côtes du Rhône, with warm black plum and melted black licorice spiked with juniper and black pepper. Offers juicy deliciousness, with no rough edges, on an open-knit frame. There's a burst of freshness and herbs on the bright finish. Grenache and Syrah."
