Wouldn't it be great to have a Napa Cab, made by someone who is native to Napa, and knows the valley inside and out? Josh Phelps and his Steady State Cabernet are just that, as he strives to ensure his wines are always up to par, and represent the core style of the valley!

To someone who was exposed to the wine industry at a young age, Josh definitely knows a thing or two about wine and the world that revolves around it. Learning from his father Chris Phelps, who is the founder and winemaker of Ad Vivum (which was Hi-Time's #2 Top Domestic Cabernet Sauvignon of 2022) and the founding winemaker at Dominus Estate, Josh helped with selling wine and working harvests for friends with his father. He was mainly focused on doing business studies when he attended college, but as time passed, he decided to go into the wine business entirely and created Grounded Co. in 2016. Where his main focus is wines that are affordable, have great integrity, and that are straight up delicious and this "Steady State" is definitely on the mark.

Being 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the parcels that these grapes come from are well known and favorites to us here at Hi-Time. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Rutherford region (that is home to some producers like Inglenook, Quintessa and Beaulieu Vineyard) which gives off a round mouth feel and signature "dusty" tannins. While the Merlot comes from the Oak-Knoll region (home to producers such as Trefethen, Lewis, and Robert Biale) that brings some elegant flavors and bright acidity due to the location of this AVA being cooler than others in Napa Valley.

World renowned wine publisher Wine Spectator has done hundreds of thousands of reviews of wines since 1976. They are for sure one of the most revered sources to see reviews and critiques of wines. So when they rated Josh's "Steady State" Cabernet a 92-Point score, it is absolutely nothing to underestimate. He is getting so much recognition for his amazing work that at the beginning of March, he was featured in the Napa Valley Register, which goes to show his wines are something to keep and eye out for.

WINE SPECTATOR 92 POINTS - "Lively, with a bramble hint underscoring the mix of red and black currant and blackberry compote flavors. Amply toasted but the fruit keeps pace, with apple wood and anise checking in on the finish as well. Best from 2023 through 2033."
