GLENALLACHIE 12YR CHINQUAPIN BARREL 58.6% 700ML 2008 SINGLE CASK; SPEYSIDE SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY

As well as being totally independently managed and owned, Glenallachie has a long history of excellence. A lot of this is led by the clever stewardship of its leader Billy Walker, a whisky industry icon with over 50 years of experience. The distillery was opened back in the swinging 60s, to meet a surge in demand for whisky. Originally it was meant as a workhouse distillery to produce whisky for blends, but these days we’re seeing quite a few exceptional single malts coming off the stills. This Glenallachie 12 Years Old Single Cask 2008 Cask #6915 is one of them. It was distilled in 2008, aged in Chinquapin barrel no. 6915 and exclusively bottled for Wine4You at a nice big cask strength of 58.5% ABV. You’ll find raisins, caramel, charred pineapple and dates on the nose, with banana, orange, apricot, tobacco and burnt sugar on the palate. The finish is long and juicy with chocolate and caramel. Only 258 bottles were produced making this a nice and rare single cask bottling.
