This is La Morra Barbera: a place known for its eelgantly structured wines with plenty of aroamtic expression. Ghiomo's Lavai bottling shows fine balance and freshness, with a classic almond creaminess to the plummy/black cherry fruit, an almost edible texture, and a savory finish that's elegantly tapered and fairly long. A fantastic small-production red that will please a lot of palates!
Ghiomo makes their boutique Barbera first by picking the grapes when very ripe, and they are kept cool for a day of light drying. The wine is aged in a combination of steel and large, neutral oak casks.
