Fratelli Alessandria's history in Barolo goes back to the mid 1800s with familial connection to the Burlottos. They age for around 3 long years in traditional, larger Slavonian and French oak vats, favoring a moderately pure expression of the fruit.
Their Monvigliero plots are higher in altitude -around 320 meters - compared with neighboring San Lorenzo, and still facing the midday sun. It's one of the top vineyards of Barolo. While Verduno wines are known for their ''elegant' side to broad-shouldered Barolo, the result here displays firm, lacy tannins around a suave, mouthfilling volume of fruit, and an aromatic complexity that rivals any Barolo for the impression it makes.
ANTONIO GALLONI, VINOUS 97 POINTS - "The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is one of the best wines I have tasted from Fratelli Alessandria in some time. The aromatics alone are haunting in their beauty. Rose petal, tangerine peel, cinnamon, kirsch, pomegranate and mint explode from the glass. Beams of supporting tannin give the wine its vertical build. This is such a promising Barolo. It could very well turn out to be one of the wines of the vintage." -Antonio Galloni
