70-year-old Sauvignon vines, rooted on a soil of white earth composed of fossils of oyster shells, give birth to this astonishing nectar that unleashes passions. The plots with a difference in altitude of up to 45% benefit the vines which benefit from a beautiful south/south-east exposure offering ideal maturity. A goldsmith's work is then carried out in the cellar, with an 8-month ageing in 600-litre barrels aged 6 to 8 years. "Le Cul de Beaujeu" offers us a 2023 that is more rounded and ripe than usual, resulting from a warmer vintage. This area of Sancerre, much sought after by purists, is a jewel of complexity that is very evolutionary in the glass: kumquat and passion fruit, a hint of sweet spices and warm brioche, graphite and limestone. Fleshy and very well-balanced palate, persistence on jasmine and chalky. Drink today and over the next 15 years.
