Hi-Time & Exec's Whiskey Club collaboration Single Barrel Whiskey was distilled in Canada and bottled in New York. Found North makes single barrels by first creating a 'core' blend. They then will take the core blend and finish it in a variety of differing casks. A blend of 12 and 21 year ryes and 15, 17, 22, and 25 year corn, this is a cask strength whisky with no additives and no chill filtration. This was finished in an Armagnac (brandy) cask.
Nose: Cereal grains, brown spices, honey, juicy dark red fruits with a touch of confectioners' sugar.
Palate: Dried red fruits with light glazed donut in the front palate and it develops to be slightly tannic and palate drying with a kiss of citrus as this moves to the finish. Adding a bit of spring water makes the 'core' whisky flavors sing: sweet spices, grains, wild flowers, honey comb.
Finish: The armagnac shows in the finish with an ever so slight grape note in the immediate finish. The proof shows up in the finish as the whiskey builds throughout the palate and then the crescendo pops leaving you with a wonderful mellow maple syrup note.
