"A new cuvée from this incredible estate" - Jeb Dunnuck

"Incredible density," "yet it is harmonious and gracious" - James Suckling

"Remarkable intensity and depth" - Jeb Dunnuck

A visit to Domaine de Ferrand earlier this year was a revelation. The quality of the wines speak for themselves and are setting the tone for the historic Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. We previously featured the Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Antique and are now highlighting their limited production top cuvee La Garriguette!

This wine is full-bodied, intense and laden with lush fruits including juicy red and black cherries, dark raspberries, baking spices and yes, the garrigue that adds an extra layer of interest to Chateauneuf.

James Suckling gave this wine a score of 98 Points which ranks it among the top Chateauneufs of this excellent vintage. He started his review by calling La Garriguette an "absolute stunner" and wrote about its "incredible density, velvety texture and long finish."

Jeb Dunnuck also loved this wine giving it a score of 97 Points while raving about the "kaleidoscope-like array" of flavors with "remarkable intensity and depth." He concludes by saying, "Don't miss it!"

This wine possesses fabulous textural complexity and mouth filling goodness while remaining fresh and delicious. This is a great drinking wine which is complementary to most any type of food and very enjoyable on its own.

Philippe Bravay draws on the heritage of his father and grandfather who planted vineyards that today supply the old vine Grenache which are over 100 years old! These, together with smaller amounts of Syrah, Mourvedre and Bourboulenc combine to give this wine a concentrated, rich mouthfeel.

The historic, low yielding vines are farmed organically. The wine is fermented and aged in neutral vessels to let the old vine fruit shine without being obscured by oak. The result is a purity of fruit which is noteworthy.

This rich, lushly palated red is one of the greatest Chateauneuf du Papes produced. Supply for this rarity is limited, when it's gone it's gone!

JAMES SUCKLING 98 POINTS - "An absolute stunner from grenache vines planted in 1904, 1910 and 1920, co-planted with some other local varietals. It shows aromas of spiced cherries, forest berries, baking spices, Mediterranean herbs and bay leaves. It's medium-bodied with very fine tannins. Incredible density. So much weight, yet it is harmonious and gracious. Intense core of spices gives vitality on the mid-palate. Bright fruit, transparent and pure, with a constant influence of peppercorns and spices. Tension and vitality mix beautifully. Focused, with a velvety texture and a long finish with more peppery character. Try after 2027."

JEB DUNNUCK 97 POINTS - "A new cuvée from this incredible estate, the 2022 Châteauneuf du Pape La Garriguette comes from the oldest vines of the estate (planted in 1904 and 1920) located in the Cabrière and Berthaude lieux-dit, which are both a mix of sandy and clay soils. The blend is 75% Grenache, 10% each Syrah and Mourvèdre, and the rest Bourboulenc which was 60% destemmed and aged just under two years in a mix of concrete and stainless steel. It tastes like the essence of Provence and has a kaleidoscope-like array of red and black cherries, framboise, sweet herbes de Provence, ground pepper, and spring flower-like nuances. Incredibly layered and complex aromatically, it's medium to full-bodied on the palate and flawlessly balanced, with a light, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's one of those perfumed, complex, and layered Châteauneuf du Pape that brings remarkable intensity and depth while at the same time staying perfectly balanced, light on its feet, and elegant. I love it today, yet it's going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and shine over the following 15 years. Don't miss it."
