The grapes for Feather come from Washington State's Columbia Valley. Cabernet grown here accentuates the varietal character of the grape and contributes to the wine's silky texture. Grapes were picked by hand, and to help the wine develop optimal structure and extract concentrated color and flavor, the cap was pumped over vigorously at peak fermentation. When ready for barrel, the wine was aged 22 months in all French oak barrels, 85% new. This percentage of new oak is typically reserved for wines that sell for 2x-4x times this price.
ANTONIO GALLONI'S VINOUS MEDIA 93 POINTS - "The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Feather is an elegant effort with a perfumed blend of dusty violet flowers and sweet spice complementing black cherries. Silken textures are contrasted by a wave of tart red and black fruits, while a sweet herbal air informs the close. Gently tannic yet a bit shorter than anticipated, it leaves a resonance of lavender pastille to taper off."
JEB DUNNUCK 93 POINTS - "Inspired by a former partnership with Randy Dunn, the 100% varietal 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Feather is densely concentrated in full-bodied black fruit, lavender aromatics, and an enduring richness of dark chocolate. Silky, supple tannins provide a refined texture that leads to a peppery finish of oak, saddle leather, and clove. This shows cellaring potential of 20-25 years"
