We have been enjoying the wines from Famille Paquet at Hi-Time for years. When we tasted the 2022 Saint Veran, we were blown away and immediately taken with the depth, texture and intensity of flavor. Only a small amount was available at that time and we waited patiently until more arrived. Fortunately, after months of waiting the distributor received more and we grabbed everything they had.
The 2022 vintage delivers a beautiful Chardonnay of seamless balance with ripe orchard fruit, subtle spice, and luxurious texture, finishing long and elegant. This is a Saint-Véran that drinks well above its appellation-offering serious Burgundy pedigree without the Premier Cru price tag.
James Suckling gave this wine 95 Points and was almost romantic calling it, "a rich and suave Saint-Veran that smooches with you in an irresistible manner" and noting, "the very long finish is all cream and silk!"
The story of this domaine began in 1980 when Jocelyne and Michel Paquet began producing a small amount of wine. They gradually acquired additional vineyards in the Macon including St Veran and Pouilly Fuisse. Over the years, they shared their love of the vineyards and winemaking with their three sons. In 2016, the sons took over what was now a 12-hectare property.
This young generation continues to redefine what's possible in the Saint-Véran appellation, crafting wines of remarkable polish, depth, and authenticity. The domaine focuses on organically farmed vineyards, low yields, and precise élevage to express the full potential of southern Burgundy terroir.
The Les 99 Coupees vineyard is a standout site in Saint-Véran, planted to mature vines dating back to 1956 and 1998. Limestone-rich soils and thoughtful organic farming deliver both concentration and finesse, while careful oak aging enhances texture without masking freshness.
At $38.99, this silky white Burgundy is an exceptional value and we're proud to offer it at the best price in the nation.
JAMES SUCKLING 95 POINTS - "A rich and suave Saint-Veran that smooches with you in an irresistible manner. So polished on the medium- to full-bodied palate, and the very long finish is all cream and silk! From organically grown grapes from vines planted in 1956 and 1998. Fermented and matured in oak casks for 12 months, then matured for a further 9 months in stainless steel. Drink or hold."
