ANTONIO GALLONI - VINOUS - 96 POINTS Pale golden yellow. Highly pitched aromas of white peach, grapefruit and oyster shell. The finely balanced fruit extract is enlivened and framed by the wine's bright, vivacious acidity. Pure, refined, vibrant and long. A great effort.

WINE ADVOCATE - 90+ POINTS Those used to snapping up the minuscule quantities of outstanding Riesling characteristically harvested from frozen grapes at this estate may not want to miss the 2004 Monzinger Halenberg Riesling Eiswein which Schonlebers harvested December 21, but it is an unruly, if strikingly intense, wine that is surely far from revealing its true potential. It smells ominously smoky and of glazed apricot, peach jam, and vanilla icing. On the palate, lemon juice, pungently prickly orchard fruit and citrus zest, and peach preserves mingle in a sticky sweet yet sharply acidic and phenolic bifurcation of flavors. Werner Schonleber opines that the must here was marginally higher in Oechsle, just as concentrated, and even cleaner, than that of the estate’s monumental 2002 Halenberg Eiswein. Lucky are those who can revisit it..
