Hi-Time's Top Wines from Austria
Weingut Emmerich Knoll, one of the finest “cult” producers of the Wachau, has been in operation since 1825, making it nearly 200 years old. It was established by the founder, Emmerich Knoll, and the estate is still run by the Knoll family today. Their wines are dry, ripe and elegant. This iconic winery, whose fantastically elaborate labels have been memorably (and incorrectly) described as the ‘exploding Jesus’ actually depict St. Urban, the patron saint of wine growing.
JAMES SUCKLING 92 POINTS - "Beautiful white-peach and garden-herb aromas with a touch of yellow grapefruit give this a lot of charm and character. Very zesty and energetic on the sleek, medium-bodied palate. Drink or hold. Stuart Pigott, Senior Editor."
